Spring Term

Book Week or other special event

We often enjoy a Book Week in the spring term, with a special focus on developing some aspects of our reading or writing. Sometimes we invite an author to come into school to work with the children. Many of the children remember Simon Murray talking about his Icky Doo Dah books, and Peter Murray talking about his Mokey Joe books.
Lent and preparation for Easter

Rev Christine usually joins us in school to take us into the Lent period, with a worship session reminding us of the importance of this time of preparation, leading up to the special events of Easter week.
Mothering Sunday

Our school supports the Mothering Sunday service in St Martin's Church. On the Friday before the service children and community members work together to make the many posies that are given out in the service, from donated flowers and shrubs. The school usually sing a song or two, read prayers written by the children and take one of the readings within the service.
Easter Service

One of the highlights of the spring term is our Easter Service held in St Martin's Church. The children are involved in sharing some aspects of the life of Jesus, as well as events in the few days leading up the cricifixion and ressurection of Jesus. The summer term often starts with a reminder of the resurrection too.
School Association - Artex Exhibition

Our School Association organise many events throughout the year, but the biggest fund raiser and community event is the annual art exhibition, held in February / March in the Village Hall in Heath End. A wide number of art exhibitors display their works, covering a diverse and interesting range of media. The artwork is for sale and the profits benefit the school and the artists.

Watch out for details of the next Artex in the news items and the school newsletter in the spring term.
