Welcome to Sycamore Class

Welcome to Sycamore Class

Sycamore class is home to the older Year 2 and all of the Year 3 children in the school. We have a lovely room with views out onto the open fields, the playground and the school playing field. The class teacher’s are Mrs Andrew and Ms Bateman who are assisted by Mrs Hancock and Mrs Lovell.  Mrs Braidley is currently on maternity leave and will be back early in 2018 but send you this message.

"Welcome to Sycamore class! In Sycamore class we love trying something new and love finding out new things. We're learning that making mistakes helps us to learn and we enjoy tackling new challenges together.

Our focus on learning skills  teaches us about how to be an excellent learner and includes, among other skills; perseverance, teamwork, making links, planning and concentrating. Each week a ‘Star of the Week’ is chosen for using their learning skills in class and the children enjoy writing a message in their card to explain why they think their friend is a ‘star’. Children are also rewarded for their learning throughout the week with lots of praise, the chance to earn merits for their team, by wearing a special golden sash, showing work in assembly or popping up to share their learning with the headteacher!''

Sycamore class have a busy week covering the curriculum in lots of fun and different ways. We enjoy studying a different topic each half term and usually link our writing to our topic. We've loved exploring different topics like Chocolate, Celebrations and 'Jobs people do'."
