All Dressed Up - Making clothes for our teddies

For our topic this Spring term, 'All Dressed Up', we are looking at clothes and fashion and how it has changed through the ages. We will be sorting materials in Science, looking at how our clothes have changed from the past to the present in History, studying African fabric and the clothes people wear in Uganda in Geography and weaving and sewing in D&T. Our focus for English will be 'The Smartest Giant in Town'.

To launch our exciting new topic the children all brought along one of their teddies/dolls. They designed an outfit for them to wear and then with the help of some of our lovely mums they spent the afternoon cutting/tying/sewing and stapling their outfits together and dressed their teddies. They had a lovely afternoon and were very proud of what they achieved. Mrs Alexander was amazed at how it all came together. They had a chance to use a sewing machine and use a needle and thread if they wanted. We had a fantastic afternoon!
