Special Educational Needs

At St Martin’s CE (Aided) Primary School we value all children, regardless of their abilities, disabilities, social, emotional or behavioural needs. We recognise and believe that all children are entitled to access a broad and balanced curriculum which is differentiated to meet their individual needs. 

Our SEND policy explains how we work within the Code of Practice set by government to identify and then support children with SEND to enable them to access the curriculum and make academic progress as well as developing our school values and life skills.

We highly value the contribution of parents and carers, and welcome them into school to discuss the needs of their children. In the first instance we encourage parents to contact their child’s teacher who has responsibility for the child’s learning.  The teacher may refer parents to the SENCo, Mrs A Forsey, who can be contacted through the School Office.

Every Local Authority is required to publish information about services that are available in their area for young people from birth to 25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and also services outside the area which children and young people can use. This is known as the Local Offer.

 

All schools must complete a SEND Information Report that will contribute to the local offer. At St Martin’s CE (Aided) Primary School, this report has been designed to give a clear profile on how we work with children.
