School Association

The St Martin’s School Association organise regular social activities and fund raising events and in so doing, continue the tradition of the close knit and friendly community that we are proud to say is St Martin’s School. The committee is ade up of enthusiastic parents and staff who are keen to continue and build on the successful work of previous committees.

The school itself provides an excellent education and financially supports many aspects of the curriculum but the Association goes beyond that to help provide the “nice to have” items that can sometimes be beyond the scope of the School’s budget.

We have purchased many items over the years, enhancing the provision for music, sport, dance and other physical activities, including the wonderful climbing equipment on the school playing field with its 'bouncy bark' safety surface, lots of useful IT resources including laptops and netbooks, along with computer programmable devices. We also provide finance for theatre groups and other outings and we organise many not-for profit events for the pupils' benefit. These include social events such as film nights and discos. We provide a “Secret Santa Shop” at Christmas to enable the pupils to buy secret presents for their parents and siblings.
Our biggest source of income is the annual Art Exhibition, held at East Woodhay Village Hall in February / March each year. This exhibition showcases the work of many local artists and their artwork is available for very reasonable prices over a special exhibition weekend. Another key annual event is our annual firework night - amazing fireworks and good food in a safe and friendly setting.
The Association is run by a small committee of parents and teachers. It gives us great pleasure to be involved with the School, and the events themselves are fun to organise and to be involved in. Every parent or guardian of a pupil at the School is automatically a member of the Association, and can have a say in the way we spend our funds.

The Association hold their Annual General Meeting each June / July to celebrate the successes of the previous year, talking about the many events that have been organised and the contributions made to the school in terms of new equipment and resources for the children to enjoy. The Association really contributes positively to the children's education and to the school community life.

We always welcome new members onto the Committee at any time of year, so if you are interested in being part of the team, contact any member of the Committee or ask at the School Office.
