Tuesday evening resi update

Tuesday evening Resi update:

And Tuesday is done! It's been a rainy day all day, except for the last activity session, which was just about in the dry. However, the children haven't complained (much) or got stroppy (ok, some did) and have jut got stuck into their activities, which comprised of abseiling, canoeing, nightline/tunnels and archery.

Lunch was a packed lunch affair, where the children chose white or brown bread, then cheese, ham, tuna mayo or egg mayo (or jam for those who didn't like any of the above), and then everyone got their sanfwich in a bag with a randomly selected packed of crisps, a choc bar and a piece of fruit. Cue swappage of crisps.. OMG. A couple of hours later, everyone had a flavour they were ok with, except the adults who simply. didn't. care. by. then.

We had cake mid afternoon and then tea was tomato pasta with hidden veg, pasta with cheese sauce or plain pasta and all with garlic bread. During lunch and tea, everyone ate well, with lots going back for seconds of pasta. And dessert was icecream and all the trimmings, so that gave us all the energy for our evening activity, which was crafty - pebble painting and clay making, so the children could make a couple of momentos from our trip, which I've not seen done at a resi before, both of which went down well with most children.

We started the bedtime fiasco sorry I mean process at half 9 today, with the hope they'd be asleep by ten pm - I reckon it was about half past but don't worry, tomorrow it will be earlier as all children are starting to take on a tinge of tiredness.

Here's hoping for children sleeping through but we'll see.

Oh, and here are some things I honestly have heard today:

'I have to say, dinner last night was fantastic!' (by a child who does not like cottage pie, who had cottage pie, and then seconds of cottage pie, so I assume now likes cottage pie. Your children are so fickle)

'This is my hair style today, do you like it? Is it better than yesterday's?' From one boy to another. Styling it out.

'It's hangin' up, bruv!' True story. Innit.

Oh and my personal uninvestigated favourite: 'what are you doing - put it away!!!' The golden rule of resi - you just never ask.
