Thursday morning resi update

Thursday morning resi update:

This will be my final resi update. Partly this is because we come home later today, but mostly because I am quickly losing the ability to string words into sentences due to the extreme level of tiredness we as staff are currently feeling.

This morning has been interesting, as we were up early to ensure packing and getting ready was all done before 8am breakfast.

Packing bags came in many varieties; stuffing it in and praying it will close without breaking the zips, sitting back and waiting for someone else to do it (we didn't) or telling me that the case is full and they need to put the rest in another bag, when there is still plenty of space if you just. fold. some. clothes. And some children are more capable than others at recognising their own things. Even when labelled and I am clearly telling them that it belongs to them!

Also, I envy all of your very modern homes, as you must all have the kind of lights where you clap and they go on and off, or incredibly high electricity bills, as NO CHILD has been witnessed on this trip ever turning off a light. EVER.

However. We came, we saw, they conquered. They conquered their fears, their personal bests, their limits and then pushed above them. They have all eaten well, despite all of your worries, including this morning for breakfast - every child had some cereal and every child had hot too, which was bacon, potato waffles and scrambled egg combinations. We have fed them more cake than was probably sensible and that may be why they didn't go to sleep as early as I'd have liked last night. They have all slept well for the most part, even though some will tell you they have hardly slept - the snoring begs to differ.

For all my jokes and disparaging comments, we are all so incredibly proud of your children, each and every one of them. We have loved our time away with them and we hope they have too. They have been brilliant ambassadors of our school, embodying our school values and learning skills throughout the trip.

Now it's time to give them back. Please can I just remind you that you do have to come get them, even if you've secretly enjoyed a couple of days without them. We will not keep them longer, no. Not even for wine, chocolate and a decent a mattress to nap on.

Well, maybe for all three.

Email to follow with picking up instructions. See you soon.
